Disc Read Error
There have been issues with certain PS2 games where the Sony Playstation will not read the game media and the user will get a Disc Read Error Message. This is an issue with the actual Sony Playstation 2 hardware, not the game. If you have this problem, please follow the steps below.
Because this is a game console/hardware issue and is not related to the game publisher please contact Sony’s customer service for further assistance at 1-800-345-SONY.
You can also try to following steps to run a diagnosis on your Playstation 2.
- 1. Remove game disc from the console.
- 2. Reboot the PlayStation 2 console.
- 3. Make sure “Browser” is highlighted/selected.
- 4. Select “Console”
- 5. Press the “Triangle” (Options) button.
- 6. When “Diagnosis” appears, press the “X” (Enter) button.
- 7. Press down on the “D” pad to select “On”.
- 8. Press the “X” (Enter) button.
- 9. Press the “O” (Back) button.
- 10. Repeat to return to the Browser.
- 11. Re-insert the game disc. If the game is not detected, open the “Browser” and select the “Game Disc” icon and press “X” (Enter) Button.
It’s important to note that all game discs are manufactured by the game console makers (namely Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo). Game publishers, like Crave Entertainment, are not involved in the game disc manufacturing process. As the game publisher, we can only assist with the game play and cannot resolve any console/hardware issues such as this one.
